Movie Review: The Ugly Truth

by Kerryn Atkinson on August 4, 2009

ugly-truthMy whole single life was based on the assumptions that men like bigger breasts, smaller butts and blondes. Hence I spent a fortune on push-up bras, sucky tummy-tightener thingies and hair dye… to no avail.

Therefore I assumed I must need better push-up bras, tighter butt support and blonder hair. Which, of course, lead to massive discomfort and a stint of chemical bleach-baldness.

So it’s actually somewhat heartening for me that the upcoming Sony Picture, The Ugly Truth, pertains to tell it like it is when it comes to the fellas.

Staring Katherine Heigl as a romantically challenged TV producer thrown together with chauvinistic (but ridiculously gorgeous) reporter, Gerard Butler. Mike (Butler) believes he knows the way for Abby (Heigl) to meet a man and his “method” puts the women’s movement back about 100 years!

There are no surprises about where this rom-com is heading but there is a lot of cheek along the way. Enough so, that any male who is dragged along to this chick-flick will get a giggle, or two.

THE UGLY TRUTH hits Greater Union Cinemas from August 6
