Fab Finds Friday

by SNOBS on June 26, 2009

In the name of good vibes that flow on a Friday, SNOBS has decided to launch Fab Finds Friday: a roundup of handy, brilliant, beautiful, fun and informative stuff from the interweb-week-that-was.

We’ll deliver our Fab Finds categorised by the content sections that already exist here at SNOBS, so it’s kinda like a big dose of everything we have to offer – but without us having to write it! Oh come on, it is Friday…

KNOW IT ALL is where we store useful information on all aspects of business, including the business that is your personal development and success.
The articles we feature include how-to guides, advice and insights from industry experts on topics like: target marketing and branding, social media trends, employee management and leadership, maximizing profitability and increasing customer loyalty.

Here’s one we didn’t produce earlier: An article about commenting at websites relevant to your industry as a means of self-promotion – is it worth your time? The idea is to interject with relevant, useful information to lure readers back to your business website. We suggested the same thing in this months’ newsletter; it was step 6 of ‘7 Steps to Self-Promotion at SNOBS’. In this article, Brian Clark looks at how to do it most effectively…

MIND YOUR BUSINESS is all about looking after what’s yours. That is, staying on top of news, developments and legislation that could affect your business or career.

“The Rudd Government has announced business-to-business deals will be excluded from new laws banning unfair contract terms in standard-form contracts. The ban was designed to protect consumers from issues such as unfair exit fees, penalty fees and clauses that permit one party to unilaterally change or cancel a contract.” Read more…

FORWARD THINKING aims to cover innovation and technology on the basis that staying ahead of the competition has gotta be easier if you foster new ideas. Cultivate creativity, embrace upheaval and “tech your time”!

This week we’re ga-ga over Go To Meeting. Ever had one of those phone conversations where you’re trying to explain a computer ‘how to’ to someone who’s really not on the same page? That’s because they’re probably not on the same page – they’re probably not even looking at the right program. Example:
“See the tab next to Page Layout… now hover your mouse over the second line of the toolbar. No, not the one with the dots – the button next to that…”
Imagine if you could call the person over the internet, using VOIP technology, and have them see your computer screen on their computer screen in real time! Well, you can… with this kind of technology you’ll never have to meet with your web developer face-to-face again (ha-ha).

STYLE, BEAUTY, YOU is all about spoiling you, cos you work damn hard for it lady! Look great, feel fabulous and stay beautiful – inside and out. In this section we seek help from experts in interior design, fashion, hair, health, make-up and more.

We ♥ wallpaper, which has made a huge comeback in recent years. Feast your eyes on the stunning designs of Australian artist, Florence Broadhurst [1899-1977].

TIME OUT is where you’ll find stories and reviews on weekend escapes, overseas travel and much, much more. Can’t afford to leave your desk for lunch? That’s okay, too, because TIME OUT provides heaps of other fun stuff for you to look at, daydream about or fiddle around with…

Getting hooked on Twitter? Tweak your profile page by using PowerPoint (!) to create a custom background.

TIME SAVERS…

TIME SAVERS is not one of the content categories at SNOBS, but we’re going to tack it onto the end of Fab Finds from now on, ‘cos there’s some really handy stuff out there!
