Word of Mouse: FREE Business Promotion

by SNOBS on May 28, 2009

Because the best opportunities are usually passed on via word of mouth, SNOBS’ gives you Word of Mouse. Spread the word for free with just a click of your mouse!

In this category we want the scoop on free promotional tools for business. There’s a surprisingly large array of options, you just need to know where to look and who to ask. Think notice boards for example; places that teach adult education (like TAFE or B.E.C) often have them. We’ve also heard of Office Works stores and an ANZ branch that allowed small businesses to tack up a flier for nix.

Then of course there’s free online promotion through services like Google’s Local Business Center, Yahoo’s Local Listings and Gumtree Classifieds – ALL FREE! But it’s the smaller/independent sites that offer free listings and promotion of businesses, which could take years to find!

HOW TO USE WORD OF MOUSE
If you know about a free promotional tool for business, or you offer one in your business or on your website – do tell! The options don’t have to be restricted to notice boards and directories but they do have to be FREE.

PLEASE NOTE: The Word of Mouse notice board is for Australian listings only. Obviously it’s important to leave a clear and concise description for others to view easily, so please format your information as follows…

STATE: (please list yours, even if the promo tool is nationwide)
LOCATION: (the website URL or physical address, if it’s a notice board)
CONTACT: (if it’s your free promotional tool, or there’s a generic email address to write to)
ANYTHING ELSE?

This free service is made available to SNOBS’ readers in the name of networking outside your normal reach. We’re pleased to offer the ease of 24-hour online socialising, which could lead to fresh opportunity!

That said; use of this networking notice board constitutes absolute agreement to SNOBS’ Terms and Conditions of Use.

SNOBS.com.au is an online magazine for startup businesswomen, focused on featuring startup businesswomen! To learn more about the site, and the benefits of becoming a SNOB, follow the link below.

This site is a business directory for Australia, where you can search by state or business category. They actually want you to pay for a listing, but there is a FREE option available.
FOR FREE: You get to list your business name, phone number and address – and choose one category for it to go in. You can also list a description, which viewers will be able to read IF they click on your business name but the description is not added to their search results page.

WOMOW stands for Word Of Mouth On the Web and its a website where consumers share their recommendations with each other. It uses word-of-mouth information to help people find the best businesses, while also helping good businesses stand out from the crowd.

Businesses can get great exposure on WOMOW for free by asking their customers to rate them, or for a minimal fee, they can join the Happy Customers Program to maximise their word-of-mouth reputation. This helps you get more customer ratings, a higher Google ranking, more traffic, and more customers, while you build and protect your online reputation.

I love receiving the SNOBS update every day. I have learned a lot that has assisted my business already, such as where to list my web site for FREE! love that.

And I also have some flyers laying around and I will be out popping those into letter boxes next week to see how that goes for us.
It’s great to see so many other people who are working ontheir own business, others providing information to help small business..I just LOVE it!
