Enterprise Connect is partnering with a number of organisations to provide manufacturers and other firms, access to a series of targeted workshops designed to assist them to manage through the global downturn.
Over 180 workshops will be available nationally. Workshops will provide practical strategies and tools for firms, and cover a range of topics such as cash flow management, sales and marketing strategies and inventory management. MEDIA STATEMENT: The Rudd Government is helping small and medium enterprises tackle the effects of the global recession through a series of free workshops being held around the country. The workshops are being delivered through Enterprise Connect – a $271 million network of manufacturing and innovation centres designed to help firms become stronger by focusing on innovation, creativity and excellence. Enterprise Connect will join with up to 19 organisations – private and government, with substantial business experience – to deliver over 180 workshops across Australia.
“The Rudd Government is working with Australian businesses to help them deal with the global recession,” said Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr.
“Workshops are being held in all states and territories: in capital cities and regional areas.
“Small and medium enterprises are facing significant challenges. Through these workshops we will give them the tools they need to tackle the global downturn head-on.
“Workshops will be held at no cost to participants and will focus on practical topics such as managing cash flow and how to better generate sales.
“With support from partner organisations, the Rudd Government is reaching out to firms and providing practical tools and survival strategies for companies.”
A tip sheet on how to improve your business in the current economic climate has also been developed by Enterprise Connect Business Advisers. It will help businesses focus on key priorities at what can be an overwhelming and confusing time.
The workshops complement the Government’s other initiatives to assist small businesses to deal with the global recession. These include: 90 small business advisory services; an additional 30 per cent tax deduction on purchases of eligible capital items and capital improvements; pay-as-you-go tax relief to boost cash flows in 2009-10 and a stimulus package that provides work opportunities for tradespeople.
