I’ll Take An Extra-Large Quantum of Daniel Craig, Please.
There’s something about a steel-hearted, emotion-phobe with fabulous abs that removes the ‘logical reasoning’ part of the female brain, leading temporarily confused women to waste countless hours under the impression they can “change him”. When I say “they” that’s myself included; I wasted a good six years on a man that found Daniel Craig more attractive than I did!
But in retrospect I can appreciate my exes taste in Mr. Craig. I still think he has a stupid surname but who cares what the actor’s drivers license says. When he steps into the shoes of Bond – James Bond – my reason… illogical, er, I say… whoa! What was I saying?
Oh yes, sorry; rugged, charming and able to do amazing things with an Aston Martin while being shot at by enemy agents and chased by police. This is a man who could come in handy when trying to do a high-speed reverse park for the last spot at Coles.
Picking up one hour from where Casino Royale left off, this Bond film (the 22nd one made) is the first ever to be a direct continuation of the previous film. So Bond has captured Mr. White and takes him under a palazzo in Sienna for questioning. Its here we learn that White is part of a much larger organisation that has even infiltrated MI6… but unless you’ve seen Casino Royale these are insignificant details. And that doesn’t mean you need to see Casino Royale to appreciate Quantum of Solace – I was actually willing to forgo any plot at all to see Daniel Craig back in bathers – but if the storyline is of importance I can tell you its twisting and turning enough to be interesting but not overly complicated or hard to follow.
I loved the rawness and grittiness of the action scenes although, as with many sequels, it’s likely to leave truly passionate Bond fans feeling that it doesn’t live up to the original films, and fans of Casino Royale may be slightly let down if they’re expecting the same tricks.
This one is not all about the Bond girls; the plot is self-indulgent, focusing on 007’s obsession with revenge and Judy Dench is once again amazing as M with a majority of the witty one liners.
Opens nationally, Wednesday November 19 [2008].

it will be easy to make Quantum of Solace spoofs… every where this Bond goes he breaks glass, he can’t get a gallon of milk from the store without it turning into a chase scene, and every time he punches someone in the face, they die
