The phrase, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life,” is rarely demonstrated quite so well as Eric Nakagawa and his website creation icanhascheezburger.com.
The, then out-of-work computer programmer, from Hawaii built a site which basically revolves around pictures of cats with silly, misspelled captions. The site was built in January 2007 and snapped up the following September by investors for a sum – according to Time magazine – of approximately US$2million. The new owners recently reported 100 million page views per month at the site, which they expect to top a billion by the end of 2008.
The appeal is obvious; cute, funny and a total time-waster, especially if you get yourself hooked on uploading your own pictures, which you can add your own funny captions to.
